Welcome

No matter were you are: ‘Hello! 感叹词 Ciao 특히 英 Holà! Hallo!’

I would not be the person I am without creativity. I have been either drawing or painting from a very early age. Creative acts make me feel whole.

I maintained an abiding interest in my day-to-day world as the source of creative inspiration. Engaging with my community and the natural world means that the environment of south-east Queensland and where I live strongly features in my works.

ARTIST & FRIEND 2 lowI change over time – and so does the world around me – and this is reflected in the shifts in my creative works.

Working en plein air - directly observating – honestly emoting and experiencing – intuitively responding – freely associating with all sentient beings in my environment – experiencing the influence of ideas and the people around me: These are the things that define my creative work!

Greetings – a warm welcome!

My best wishes – Richard

News

IMG_1060 IMG_1061 IMG_1062 IMG_1063 IMG_1064 IMG_1065 IMG_1066 I have been working on a portrait of Emeritus Professor Colin Mackerras since 14 August 2014. This painting is destined for the 2015 Archibald Prize.

Here are some work-in-progress shots plus a web link about Colin.

http://app.griffith.edu.au/news/2014/11/17/chinas-president-honours-griffith-academic/

As you can see – Colin is well deserving of a portrait in recognition very significant contribution to the arts, scholarship, and a life committed to building strong Australia/China links. That Colin is included in a speech to the Australian Parliment by the Premier of China speaks volumes!

Colin is true gentleman and a very good subject to paint. I’m having a good time and I thank Colin for his willingness to sit for me!

The painting is 1.9 m x 2.9 m and is oil on linen. The first photo gives a view of the entire painting and the rest are deatil shots. More photos as the painting progresses!
